Sheridan FM has successfully completed a complex abseil operation at the iconic Printworks Manchester, as part of the wider renovation project for The Bierkeller Manchester and Club Pure, which are being transformed into a new, modern sports bar destination.
Due to the challenging logistics of Manchester city centre, traditional lifting methods were not viable for this project. A large generator located on the roof of the building needed to be removed, but restricted access, surrounding buildings, and high footfall meant that a crane operation was not a practical or safe option.

To overcome these constraints, our specialist team carried out a fully planned rope access (abseil) operation, allowing safe access to the roof and controlled removal of the generator. Working at height in a busy urban environment requires precision, experience, and strict adherence to safety procedures — all of which were delivered by our trained technicians.
The abseil method not only reduced disruption to the surrounding area but also ensured the work was completed efficiently and safely, keeping the wider renovation project on schedule.
This project highlights Sheridan FM’s ability to deliver innovative access solutions in challenging environments and reinforces our expertise in supporting large-scale refurbishments across high-profile city-centre locations.
We’re proud to have played our part in the redevelopment of one of Manchester’s most well-known venues and look forward to seeing the new sports bar come to life.
